THEATRE & FILM

Join famous director Saw Teong Hin and playwright Leow Puay Tin in an interactive session on the joys and challenges in the creative industry. Award winning director Saw Teong Hin (Puteri Gunung Ledang) is directing his first theatre production, Emily of Emerald Hill. Leow Puay Tin, who is also the head of Department of Performance & Media at Sunway University College, plays Emily in the production, along with Pearlly Chua and Neo Swee Lin.



BEIJING OPERA

At 32, Ghaffar Pourazar quit as a computer animator to learn Beijing Opera, where most students in the academy were half his age or lesser. Today he is a sought-after Beijing Opera director and performer known for playing challenging roles such as the Monkey King. How did this Iranian born artist fall in love with this dying art form? Come and find out.



POETRY & FAMILY

Speaker: EDDIN KHOO

For a decade, Eddin Khoo has been collating photographs that piece together the family memory for a series of prose and prose poem remembrances. In ‘BLOOD LINES: Poetry, Memory and the Family Album’, he will share photos from his family album, explain the methods of use, read excerpts from his work and discuss the curious nature of memory and autobiography. Eddin is a poet, writer, translator and journalist.


VISUAL ART

Speaker: VICTORIA CATTONI

Victoria Cattoni will be showcasing Nyonya’s Kebaya, Baba’s Desire, her video art exhibition on the nyonya kebaya during the George Town Festival. Get up close in Q&A session with the Australian-born visual artist and researcher with a keen interest on Southeast Asian culture at this talk.
